Extended Freshness,
Sustainable Packaging.

Reducing food waste, Sustainably

Over 30% of food is wasted, largely due to oxidative degradation.
Bloxy’s bio-based oxygen-scavenging material extends food shelf life, reducing waste and supporting a circular economy. Transparent, biodegradable, and sourced from bio ingredients, our solution delivers high protection from oxygen with an eye to the future of packaging.

A Biodegradable Solution, with High Barrier and Scavanging performances

The Bloxy Ink: Our Patented Technology

The Bloxy Ink, is a water-based coating with bio-ingredients that acts as an active oxygen barrier. It blocks the oxygen from outside, while removing what was trapped in the package, keeping your products safe from oxidation.
In internal tests, it extended the shelf life of fresh food up to 200%.
Bloxy Ink can be available in sachets, or applied as an internal thin layer in plastic, paper, or bioplastic films.
This innovative technology is protected by international patents.

The first Biodegradable Oxygen Scavenger

Engineered from natural biological ingredients, our soltion offers high scavenging performances, comparable to iron-based materials, without compromising sustainability or recyclability.
When combined with bioplastics such as PLA, it forms a fully biodegradable material that provides unprecedented active oxygen barrier performance.
The natural ingredients can be sourced from renewable bio-waste generated by the food industry, contributing to a circular economy.

The Team
Innovation from the research of the University of Bologna

Bloxy started in 2025 as a spin-off of the University of Bologna. Its proprietary technology was invented by professor Andreas Lesch, Stefania Rapino and other professors from the Deparment of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry. Our multidisciplinary team combines scientific expertise, industry experience, and a shared commitment to advancing sustainable packaging.
